The room was dimly lit, casting eerie shadows upon the walls as the figures moved about with a sense of purpose. One of them, a tall woman with raven black hair tied up in a bun atop her head, stood before a large metal plate. She had donned a latex suit that hugged her voluptuous figure snugly, accentuating every curve and crevice. Her hands were busy at work, mixing something onto the plate. Her hooded eyes peered over at her colleague, a man with a similar suit but an air of imperiousness about him.
"Are you sure this is going to work?" he asked, his tone laced with concern.
The woman shrugged, her lithe fingers continuing to blend the concoction on the plate. "Well," she said, her voice pitched low and husky, "it's all we've got. The scientists have been working on it for months, trying to find a way to replicate the taste and nutritional value of real meat."
He scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest. "And they somehow came up with this?" He brandished a clump of black, fecal matter, freshly scooped from a nearby receptacle.
She shrugged again, not looking too pleased with the situation either. "Desperate times call for desperate measures. And from what I understand, the women were heavily doped up on hormones to make their waste... more...," She wiggled her fingers, searching for the right word, "appetizing."
He nodded grimly, his mind already drifting to the next hurdle they would have to overcome. Finding more 'donors' was proving more and more difficult as time went on. The world had changed. The virus ravaged the earth, leaving behind a desolate wasteland where resources were scarce and humanity teetered on the brink of extinction. Starvation haunted every corner, making this... this monstrosity their only hope for survival.
A sudden gasp echoed through the room, drawing their attention to the door. In walked four women, each one barely more than a skeleton draped in tattered clothing. Their eyes were glazed over, their steps faltering as if in a trance.
"Get in here," the man barked, jerking his head towards the woman by the metal plate.
Two of the women approached reluctantly, their mouths moving as if unable to form words. The man sighed, impatience clear on his face as he grabbed one by the hair and forced her towards the plate. The other woman quickly followed suit.
The woman with the latex suit stood behind them, her hands positioned at their waists. "Open up," she commanded, her voice leaving no room for argument.
Their jaws gaped open obediently, revealing rows of rotting teeth and a throat that smelled of fetid breath. She carefully placed a small portion of the feces onto their tongues, instructing them to chew and swallow. The smell made both men wince, but they gritted their teeth and endured it, their minds fixated on the survival of their species.
The women's eyes rolled back in their heads as they swallowed, their cheeks bulging with the unfamiliar mass. It took several tries before they managed to get it down, but they did not protest further. When they were done, they were released with a sharp push from the man who looked like he was about to lose his lunch.
It was now up to the scientists to see if their experiment had been successful. The man and woman exchanged a nervous glance before hurrying towards the lab, leaving the room empty save for the four bewildered women and the feces-covered plates.
Time passed slowly as they waited, the anticipation hanging heavy in the air. When the doors finally opened, the man emerged, his face filled with relief mixed with surprise.
"It worked," he said, unable to hide his amazement. "It actually worked."
The woman trailed behind him, her eyes wide with disbelief. "How can you even taste it?" she asked, wrinkling her nose at the memory of the odor.
He shrugged, his face set in determination. "Desperation breeds strength," he said, his voice hoarse with emotion. "Now we just need to spread the word. We're not saviors; we're salvation."
And with that, they left the room, ready to share their unconventional but potentially life-saving discovery with the rest of their dwindling world.
