The click of heels echoed down the hospital hallway, signaling the arrival of Nurse Riku. She was a tall, statuesque woman with a commanding presence that made even the most seasoned doctors and nurses uneasy. Her icy gaze darted around the room, finally settling on her colleague, Nurse Mai, who was huddled in a corner, hugging herself. It was clear that something had shaken her deeply.
"Riku, I need to talk to you," Mai said, her voice trembling. "It's about...it's about the doctor."
Nurse Riku narrowed her eyes, her suspicions already aroused. "What about him?"
"I think he's been...I think he's been sleeping with me," Mai confessed, her eyes welling up with tears. "He's been really inappropriate, and I think you should know."
A look of shock crossed Nurse Riku's face as she processed what Mai was saying. She took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. "What makes you think that?" she asked quietly.
"I...I heard him on the phone talking about it," Mai replied, her voice barely above a whisper. "He was talking about how much he enjoyed it, and...and I think he wants to do more."
Nurse Riku felt sick to her stomach. She had always suspected that the married doctor had had his eyes on her colleague, but she never imagined he would go this far. She sighed heavily, knowing what she had to do.
As if on cue, the doctor in question appeared at the end of the hallway. He was a tall, handsome man with an air of confidence that seemed to radiate from his pores. His eyes fell upon Nurse Riku and Nurse Mai, and he immediately knew something was wrong.
"Everything okay here?" he asked, his voice calm but betraying a hint of nervousness.
"No, it's not," Nurse Riku said coldly, her gaze never leaving him. "We need to talk, doctor."
The doctor swallowed hard, wondering what he had done. He followed Nurse Riku into a nearby examination room, his heart pounding in his chest.
As soon as they were alone, Nurse Riku turned on him, her anger palpable. "Did you really think you could get away with this?" she demanded, her voice shaking with rage.
The doctor tried to compose himself, but it was clear he was shaken. "I...I thought we were just having some fun," he stammered. "I never meant to hurt anyone."
"Fun?" Riku said, incredulous. "You call this fun? You're married, you have children! How could you be so selfish?"
"I know I messed up," he admitted, his voice low. "But we could still make it work, right? We both want the same thing."
Nurse Riku let out a disgusted laugh. "You're pathetic," she spat. "You're going to ruin two lives with your selfishness. First, you take advantage of Mai, and now you think you can come back to me?"
The doctor was visibly shaken by her words. He knew she was right, but that didn't make the situation any easier to face.
Suddenly, the door to the examination room flew open, revealing Nurse Mai standing there. Her face was a mask of fear and humiliation, but there was also a glint of anger in her eyes.
"Why don't you say what you really think?" she said, her voice shaking with rage. "You think I'm a dirty whore who deserves everything she gets."
Nurse Riku turned to face her colleague, surprised by her outburst. "Mai, I..."
"No," Mai interrupted. "Let me finish. I deserve better than this. But you don't. You're just as disgusting as he is."
Before Nurse Riku could respond, the doctor grabbed Nurse Mai by the arm and pulled her out of the room. He could feel Nurse Riku's eyes boring into him, but he couldn't look at her.
What happened next was a blur for Nurse Riku. She heard muffled cries and moans coming from the other side of the hospital room, but she couldn't bring herself to investigate further. She knew what was happening, and it made her feel sick to her stomach.
Hours later, Nurse Mai emerged from the room, her face a pale shade of white. She avoided eye contact with anyone she passed, ashamed of what had happened.
Nurse Riku watched her leave, wondering if she would ever be able to forgive herself for not stopping it sooner. She knew their relationship was over, but the thought of losing her best friend and colleague was almost unbearable.
As she walked down the hallway, nurse Riku couldn't shake the feeling that everything in her life was about to change, and not for the better. She had no idea that the worst was yet to come.
