It was a sunny morning in the small town of Lin'an, and as Liu Mei woke up, her stomach churned uncomfortably. She slowly sat up in bed, feeling the familiar pressure building within her. With a sigh, she realized she needed to use the bathroom - again. Rolling her eyes, Liu Mei stood up and made her way across the room to the toilet.
As she sat down, the pain in her stomach intensified, and she knew it wouldn't be long before she was stuck in another uncomfortable situation. With a groan, she waited for whatever was coming out of her to hit the water. The feeling of relief washed over her as she heard the loud splash, followed by another, then another. Within seconds, the toilet was filling up rapidly with what appeared to be human waste.
Confused and horrified, Liu Mei watched as the contents of her bowels continued to fill the small room. She tried to stand up, but the pain didn't subside, and she was stuck on the toilet once again. Her heart pounded in her chest as she attempted to think of a solution. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
"Miss Liu? Are you okay in there?" came a muffled voice from the other side. It was her neighbor, Xin Ran. She mustered up the strength to call out, "No! Help me, please! This isn't normal!" She heard Xin Ran let out a gasp on the other side of the door, and then there was silence.
Time seemed to stand still as Liu Mei stared in disbelief at the rapidly rising water level in the toilet. She could feel her panic starting to take over, but she had to stay calm if she was going to get out of this situation. Looking around, she noticed a small window above the sink that looked out onto a ledge just outside the bathroom window.
With what felt like her last ounce of strength, she pushed herself off the toilet and walked unsteadily towards the window. Grabbing onto the ledge, she lifted herself up and looked out. Below her was a drop of several feet, but she knew it was her only chance. Slowly, she lowered herself down and let go.
The fall was short, but the impact with the ground sent a shockwave through her body. She gasped for air, her chest burning with the agony of the fall. Looking behind her, she could see a trail of what was still coming out of her filling the air. She had to keep moving.
Running as fast as her legs could carry her, she could feel the warm, sticky liquid sloshing around in her underwear. The thought made her want to vomit, but she pushed through the disgust and kept running. She could hear Xin Ran yelling for someone to call an ambulance, but she didn't stop.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Liu Mei stumbled upon a small park. Her legs were shaking uncontrollably, and she barely had enough strength to stand up. A group of elderly people saw her and rushed over. They looked at her, concern etched on their faces.
"Are you hurt?" one of them asked. Liu Mei shook her head, tears streaming down her face. She couldn't bring herself to look at them. "Can someone please call the hospital? I need to be checked out," she said between breaths.
As she waited for the ambulance to arrive, she closed her eyes and tried to make sense of what had happened. How was she still alive after everything she had been through? And why did it feel like she had just escaped from a nightmare?
